Located off A1A in Vero Beach, Round Island Reserve consists of two adjacent locations: Round Island Oceanside Park and Round Island Riverside Park, making for a perfect day of paddling, surfing and beach going.
Today, we visited Round Island Riverside Park. Like many Florida county, state, or national parks along the coastline, it’s beautiful, well-maintained, often free, and equipped with restroom facilities.
Paddling along the eastern coastline during the season can bring windy conditions, and today was no exception. With a cold front moving in, the winds ranged from 19-24 mph, keeping us on the leeward side of the mangroves and preventing us from crossing open water to the small islands in the area.
Despite the wind, we enjoyed a relaxing paddle, spotting plenty of bird activity and manatees between markers 10 and 11. We took notes on spots to explore next time we visit.
