I prefer to thoroughly test my products for a month or two before writing a review. The Mustang Survival PFD (Personal Flotation Device) I’m reviewing is characterized by its minimalist design and functional form. The material and construction of this product is robust. This PFD is best suited for the inland Waterway SUP rider, and individuals who are comfortable with swimming. With many State PFD requirements, this product is easy to wear and easy for waterway patrol officers to see. Comes in Blue (as shown here) and Admiral Grey. Bright colors for safety gear is how I roll.
The Mustang PFD features a quick CO2 release tab, which is easily accessible (note: it is only available in a right hand version, but hopefully the manufacturers will read this review and will come out with a left-handed version, to suit individuals like myself.). The manual inflator requires just 3-4 breaths to rapidly inflate the device.

This is a pillow style PFD, meaning the inflation is in the front, keeping your upper torso and head above water. There are some nice features of this product that won my attention: 1) Size. The pillow pack measures 7 inches across, keeping it out of the way; 2) Well constructed; 3) The manual inflator tube has a self-sealing valve with end-cap to prevent water entering while stowed; 4) Easy to reassemble back into the pouch with a little practice. If you are good with origami–no problem. LOL.
It is the more pricey than other waist style PFD products, but well worth the investment. I have tried on other belt PFD products, which I have found bulky. Wait for Amazon Prime day like I did for the best pricing. Price range seems to be between $87-$149.
Remember to take the time to clean all your gear thoroughly with fresh water after every use and it will last a lifetime.
