Managing The Mangroves with a Rebel Ilaga

The Rebel Ilaga (Friend) is a true Greenland Kayak of Eastern design, where the eastern shore is often hemmed in by ice flows, these kayaks made it easy to slip in behind the ice, low to the water and hidden from prey.

This is one of the most nimble kayaks I have ever paddled/owned. At 17’9″ long and 37 lbs. it is fast, sleek and can turn on a dime. It’s not a long distance yak– unless you modify the seat back– but it is one of the best rolling yaks there is and you can’t help but feel special in one–tit is the tuxedo of yaks. Add to this boat a Greenland paddle (not shown in the attached video) and you become transported to a time and place of your ancestors.
