Store Your Board – HI-LIFT Pro

The reason I found this beautiful ISLE Voyager was due to the original owners running out of storage space for their gear. At 11.6 it was a little too tall for my garage to stand alongside my surfboards, where you can see the Scott Anderson 9.6, the ’64 Hobie 9.2 & Davey Sky 5.8.

I had tried out a couple of bicycle hangers of similar design and knew this was the way to go. What I liked about these particular hangers by Store Your Board Hi-Lift Pro were the double pulleys on the control side as well as the middle strap to keep the two ends from spreading apart and the straps possibly slipping off the board. This system, like the bicycle hanging system, features an auto-locking mechanism on the control side so there is no worry about the ropes slipping out of your hands and your board comes crashing down.

I will say, the instructions are laughable and the video leaves out a couple of key points, but you will eventually figure it out. Finding the ceiling joists to anchor the bolts takes up most of your time. One thing I did have to play around with was how far apart to set the two hanging straps and the best I can explain it is make sure the control side–– where the ropes raise and lower the board–– is far enough back so that the control ropes have the freedom to move when the board is raised near the ceiling. One final caveat: the ceiling brackets have a square bolt hole on one side so make sure it is on the correct side and aligned with the control bracket square bolt holes before you mount them on the ceiling (another mistake I made).

Once installed, it works effortlessly and does the job.

The construction is sturdy and these parts are well made. This feels is strong enough to use on a kayak, but make sure the mounts are into the wooden joists and not anchored into the drywall, only. This product is rated for 60 lbs.
